He has 4 clots in his lungs. The doctors suspect that he developed a deep vein thrombosis on our day of travel from Paris to Seattle and that broke up and the bits traveled to his lungs. The information I'm getting is hardly top-notch or all-encompassing, but he's not in the top-level of risk yet. He was given a blood thinner that is midrange. My parents are probably going to fly down tonight, but I can't because I have a show coming up and a very important soccer tournament. This. Sucks. So. Much.

I hope the thinners are able to work for him. They helped my Mom. They're some of the most used and tested drugs in the world. It is good he is young.

Pulmonary Embolii are serious things to deal with. The most important thing about them is early detection and anticoagulation. Consider it comforting that he isn't in the ICU or undergoing an emergent clot retrieval by cardiothoracic surgery. I wish him a speedy recovery. The younger you are, the easier it is to tolerate these things.

Now that they caught it he should be ok. The shots in the stomach aren't any fun. My wife went through something similar last year. It was sureal at the time.
